Overcoming fear and living with wisdom and freedom

What is fear, it is feeling of lack and freedom of choice, which could possibly happen. In other word people have fear of losing or not having life, health, love from near one, wealth, fame and reputation etc. If we look clearly, are any of these permanent? Answer will be a clear no.

Then why do we have fear, probably because we want thing to be always there and we love to live in that illusion. We fail to look beyond and focus on what is permanent.

What is permanent is wonderfully answered in chapter 2 verse 12-30 of Bhagwad Gita, where lord Krishna clearly explains our soul, our true self cannot be destroyed, it is always there and will always be there. Also, in chapter 11 Arjun actually sees God is limitless, immortal, we all are part of God, he is our creator, preserver and our ultimate source and is absolute truth and permanent. So why to fear, when we and all souls around will always be there. We should live with this understanding in state of permanent, in state of freedom from fear.

What is actually to be seen is that there is in fact abundance and change or crisis though difficult is full of choices and possibility to explore self and grow toward more perfection. What need to be done is to exercise our free choice and perform our duty, our karma, as that is in our hand. If we give our very best, put our sincere and honest effort, we will feel joy in fulfilling our part of duty, performing our work diligently. This will give us satisfaction and enable us to live without any regrets. That is what we should do as this is what is only in our hands. This is described as KarmYog in Gita.  Lord Krishna has explained KarmYog in chapter 3 of Gita, he repeatedly in various verses ask us to do our duty, our very best as we only have our effort in our hands and not the result. We should leave the result on our almighty God.

We although have little control over our external environment and results, however we have choice to choose and make our internal environment full of roses.  We should pray to God for his grace, have complete faith in him, surrender to him fully and build within us pure positive environment.  We can make an attempt to remain positive within and spread that positivity around, choose people around us which support us to remain positive and close our internal door and windows to negative thought of lack and fear.

Here are few suggestions which I have learnt from sacred Gita, they can be guide us to live life of abundance and freedom within, in the current environment.

  • Have faith, believe and surrender to God. Pray to God by way best suited to your nature, either by chanting of mantra, performing meditation and seeing his presence in wonder of nature, abundance and splendour around you.
  • Express gratitude toward God and all his people who support you, are with you, help you, guide and aid you to grow.
  • Perform your duty. Do you duty diligently and completely, do what best you can do
  • Help and contribute, if it is your hand, never miss your chance to help or support any one.
  • Respect and take care of environment, be positive contributor and take care to preserve it.
  • Your body is temple of your work, it is your responsibility to take full care of it, keep it clean, eat healthy nutritious fresh food, take care of hygiene and exercise regularly.
  • Live positive sattvic simple life both internally as well as externally.
